Enticing delegates to the Sunshine Coast is big business.
And it’s not just high-profile business events that attract tourist dollars. Small group incentive tours can provide a very welcome mid-week boost for Sunshine Coast accommodation providers and venues.
This week, Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC), a division of Visit Sunshine Coast is showcasing what the region has to offer at the Asia Pacific’s most prestigious meetings and events trade show.
The Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings Event (AIME) is held from 17-19 February and is the leading trade event for the meetings and event industry. Joined by the new Sunshine Coast Convention Centre, the BESC team will meet with up to 100 top buyers.
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Simon Latchford said AIME will connect us with business event ‘buyers’ from across the world, helping us tap into what is an increasingly lucrative market.
“Results from the National Visitor Survey released by Tourism Research Australia for the year-end September 2019 revealed record business visitation numbers for the Sunshine Coast, up 34.6 per cent to 379,000 visitors.
“The Sunshine Coast business events sector has been a star performer in recent years, often successfully competing against Australia’s capital cities to host major events and conferences,” said Mr Latchford.
“A new international-capable runway is set to build the profile of the Sunshine Coast as a conference, incentives and events destination ideal for ‘incentive trips with a purpose’, inviting small groups, VIPs and conference groups to ditch the stresses of modern life and get back in touch with nature,” added Mr Latchford.
To ensure incentive travel participants get the most out of their Sunshine Coast itinerary, BESC will launch a new website dedicated to incentive planning in March 2020.
Its content will showcase what the region has to offer – from luxury lodging to wellness experiences and immersive outdoor activities – inviting planners to discover the region’s unique offerings and gain inspiration.
