Visit Sunshine Coast has launched its largest ever community driven tourism campaign, calling on Sunshine Coast locals to support the region’s devastated tourism industry by inviting their loved ones and friends to come and visit.

Residents are encouraged to pick up the phone, text or email their friends and family and invite them to the Sunshine Coast. They can also use the VSC website to send digital postcards that show off their favourite part of the region while inviting friends and family to visit.

Those who invite their friends or family through the VSC’s website will go in the running to win one of 20 prizes to bring their loved ones to the Sunshine Coast for a holiday.

The ‘Live. Love. Share. Love where you live. Share where you love!’ campaign comes at a time when the Sunshine Coast tourism operators are working towards recovery following the devastating impact of COVID-19 on the industry.

VSC Chair David Ryan said anticipated the campaign would be VSC’s largest ever community driven initiative and its personalised approach would help set it apart in what is currently an extremely competitive marketplace.

“The campaign very much plays on the idea that word-of-mouth is still one of the most valuable forms of advertising there is,” he said.

“What better endorsement for the Sunshine Coast region than locals themselves sharing with their friends and family what they love about living here?

“The region’s tourism industry has been doing it incredibly tough, and this is a way for locals to show their support as we move towards recovery.

“The campaign is focused on inviting family and friends to the Sunshine Coast, in line with eased travel restrictions across the state and aiming to boost visitor number during and post the school holiday period.

“Those who invite their loved ones to the Sunshine Coast through the VSC website put them in the running to win one of 20 prizes to visit the region.”

Live. Love. Share is supported by Sunshine Coast radio station 92.7 Mix FM, who will hold the prize giveaways and feature endorsements on air from local identities sharing what they love about the Sunshine Coast.

EON Broadcasters & 92.7 Mix FM CEO John Williams said we all Love the Sunshine Coast and 92.7 Mix FM is proud to be a partner in the Live. Love. Share campaign.

“We are reminding all locals that we can all share in growing business on the Sunshine Coast and keep locals employed by inviting friends and family to visit the Sunshine Coast and enjoy the South East’s best beaches and holiday lifestyle,” he said.

Local tourism operators are involved in the campaign through the prize giveaway, with each prize including two nights’ accommodation, a dining voucher and tourism experience.

Accor has donated accommodation prizes for the campaign, and their Regional General Manager – Northern Qld, NT & NZ Winston Hall said: “There are countless reasons to visit the Sunshine Coast and it should be on everyone’s bucket list”.

“Visitors will discover a stunning coastline, and a region rich in nature walks, restaurants and culture. Our teams look forward to giving everyone a warm and safe welcome.”

VSC has created 10 different postcards – one for each region of the Sunshine Coast – which can be emailed or shared via social media from the VSC website using the hashtag #sharesunshinecoast.
