The Sunshine Coast will be broadcast in to loungerooms across Australia as part of a dedicated half-hour travel program celebrating the region’s tourism offerings.

The special episode of Weekender, supported and coordinated by Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC), will air in Queensland on Sunday, 5 July at 5:30pm on Channel 7.

The episode is perfectly timed to further drive visitation to the region, with restrictions eased across the state and Queensland’s borders poised to reopen to the rest of Australia, except for Victoria, from 10 July.

VSC Interim CEO Craig Davidson said the Sunshine Coast feature episode was the latest in a series of high-profile media and marketing initiatives being rolled out by VSC to help support the region’s tourism industry.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase what the Sunshine Coast has to offer during prime-time on what is one of Queensland’s highest-ranking travel shows,” he said.

“The fact that the entire episode will be focused on the Sunshine Coast will enable viewers to really immerse themselves in what our region has to offer as a destination and inspire them to start booking their next Sunshine Coast escape.

“This all-encompassing approach will really help the Sunshine Coast stand out in what is currently an extremely competitive marketplace.”

The episode covers accommodation, natural attractions, tourism experiences and dining options from across the Sunshine Coast, including the street art trail in Caloundra, the newly opened TreeTop Challenge at The Big Pineapple and visiting the Little Blue Penguins at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast in Mooloolaba.

The episode is hosted by Weekender presenter and part-time Sunshine Coast local Kay McGrath.

“I adore the Sunshine Coast, it’s a world class destination and has something to offer for everybody. Whether you’re travelling with your family, flying solo or after a high-octane experience, you don’t have to go far to find it here,” she said.

“In this episode the accommodation and dining choices are a real feast and I would encourage anybody if they haven’t already to explore the Sunshine Coast and grab a slice of this paradise.”

The Sunshine Coast episode of Weekender will air in Queensland on Sunday, 5 July at 5:30pm on Channel 7, and again nationally on Saturday, 11 July at 3:30pm on Channel 7TWO.
