he Curated Plate will return to the Sunshine Coast from 6-9 August 2020. Showcasing the union between local produce and chef expertise, the four-day culinary festival will be filled with once-in-a-lifetime dining experiences and bespoke events in the picturesque surrounds of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The full festival program will be announced in March 2020, with presale tickets for The Curated Plate email subscribers going on sale 17 March, and general public tickets on sale 19 March. Subscribe here to get first access to tickets.
The Curated Plate made its debut on the Sunshine Coast from 8-11 August this year to celebrate the region’s finest produce and producers and some of the best chefs in the Australian and international dining scene. The first year was a huge success, hosting over 13,800 patrons across 56 experiences that involved over 60 local businesses and producers.
The 2020 program of events will take place across the region, from the lush hinterland to the shores of Mooloolaba Beach, involving a diverse range of local producers, businesses and restaurateurs that will continue to raise the profile of the Sunshine Coast as one of Australia’s premium ‘foodie’ destinations.
Talking about last year’s incredible collaboration dinner with Michelin-star chef Zaiyu Hasegawa, Executive Chef Daniel Jarrett of Spicers Tamarind said, “Having one of the world’s top chefs in my kitchen was definitely a ‘pinch myself’ moment and an honour”.
The vibrant Food Fair will also return 8-9 August, with revised weekend hours due to popular demand from locals. Guests will once again be able to see, touch, sip, smell and taste the best of what the Sunshine Coast has to offer, with masterclasses, chef talks and cooking demonstrations, and a host of local and national eateries, open throughout the day.
“Exploring the Sunshine Coast via our restaurants, producers, cooking schools and brewers provides a rich essence of what the region can offer,” said Visit Sunshine Coast CEO, Simon Latchford.
“Rather than concentrating the event in just one location, we enable visitors to explore our region’s incredible diversity with plate in hand. Whether it be foraging for wild produce, dining elegantly on the beachfront, or enjoying a paddock to plate feast in the Hinterland, we can promise visitors a memorable experience.”
Tourism and Events Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said he couldn’t wait to see what was on the menu for this fresh new food festival returning to the Sunshine Coast next winter.
“Amazing partnerships were developed this year between three international, 13 national and 10 local chefs, and most importantly between these chefs and more than 100 local producers.
“With a thriving agri-business here on the coast, getting local produce onto people’s plates is our goal.
“This is a great opportunity to present our produce to national and international audiences through some really unique culinary events held in locations that will showcase our beautiful destination.”
